Chelsea and Real Madrid have agreed terms for the transfer of Portugal defender Ricardo Carvalho, it was announced on Tuesday night.
Carvalho has signed a two-year deal with the Spanish giants and will link up again with his compatriot Jose Mourinho, who managed the defender at both Chelsea and Porto.
The deal was announced by both parties on Tuesday night, with the fee said to be in the region of 8 million euros.
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm it has agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Ricardo Carvalho,†read a statement on Chelsea’s official website.
“The transfer is subject to a medical and the player agreeing personal terms.
“Chelsea would like to thank Riccy for his six years of service, and we wish him well in his future career.”
A statement on real Madrid’s official website read: “Real Madrid CF and FC Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ricardo Carvalho.
“The player will be linked to Real Madrid CF the next two seasons.”
