Mark Webber will take pole position in tomorrow’s Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona after finishing ahead of Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel in today’s qualifying session at the Circuit de Catalunya.
This is the fifth time in five races so far this season that a Red Bull car will begin a race in front, but worryingly for their rivals the margin between the Red Bull duo and the rest of the grid was almost a full second.
Webber qualified in a time of 1.19.995 with Vettel 0.106 seconds behind in second. Lewis Hamilton finished in third, 0.834 seconds adrift of Webber with McLaren team mate Jensen Button in fifth. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso will start in fourth while Michael Schumacher will line up alongside Button in sixth.
The race gets underway on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
