Russian meteor fragments up for sale on eBay, but they’re probably just old rocks

Do you want your very own piece of intergalactic space trash? If so then you should head over to eBay where Russians are selling their rocks off.

Do you want your very own piece of intergalactic space trash? If so then you should head over to eBay where Russians are selling their rocks off.

Is the missus’ birthday coming up? Or have you been looking for something ornate to give your jacks a bit of a lift? If so, then a space rock might be the thing for you.

Silicon Republic reports that people are doing their best to cash in on the Russian meteorite that fell from the sky last Friday. Russians have been scouring the city of Chelyabinsk for tiny space fragments in order to sell them to gullible idiots space enthusiasts.

The fragment for sale on eBay… Looks like something you’d find in your back garden

However, your not-so-shiny, not-so-new space rock is going to cost you. One listing over on eBay has reached $640 for just 213g of rock with the seller claiming that they found it in lake Chebarkul.

However, we have a feeling that there could be some dodgy dealers looking to cash in on the current Russian sensation and the lads from Silicon Republic have warned that ‘verifying whether the items for sale are actually from THE meteor are nearly impossible.’ So be warned…
