Korean consumer giant Samsung have confidently announced that they expect to ship 10 million units of their new iPad-challenger Galaxy Tab tablet by the third quarter of 2011.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Samsung product executive Hankil Yoon said the device will sell just between €200 and €300, significantly undercutting its iPad rival, which varies from €500 to €800 in price.
If the Tab reaches 10 million sales, it will take a third of the global market by 2011. However, industry analyst are predicting that the iPad will sell within the region of 10 million units for the 2010 financial year, gaining a huge head start on its most promising competitor.
Yoon also told the WSJ that the Galaxy Tab is just one in a whole new range of Samsung devices, with six and/or 10 inch versions of the Tab aready being considered.
The Galaxy Tab will debut in Europe in mid-September and elsewhere across the world in the coming months.
