Michael Bell’s star filly Sariska will miss this weekend’s Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh because of the likely ground conditions.
Last year’s Oaks heroine was a highly creditable second to Fame And Glory in the Coronation Cup at Epsom earlier this month.
However, the four-year-old will not be travelling to the Curragh to take on the best of her own sex this weekend.
Bell told At The Races: “As of this morning, we have knocked the Pretty Polly on the head. I’ve spoken to the clerk of the course this morning and there’s absolutely no rain forecast.
“He’s been watering as hard as he can but given the temperatures over there, there’s every chance the ground won’t be any easier than good to firm.
“She’s had a couple of races on good to firm this year already and we are keen not to go the well on that ground too often with her, bearing in mind her autumn targets.
“[We’re looking at] the Arc [de Triomphe at Longchamp] and then the Breeders’ Cup Fillies & Mares Turf. There is plenty to look forward to.â€
