Sarkozy’s style stumble

It takes hard work to look like an imposing statesman when you're 5'5". Nicolas Sarkozy almost gets it right, but not quite.

Proving that it takes hard work to look like an imposing statesman when you’re 5’5”, Nicolas Sarkozy, the current French president, is notoriously height sensitive. He’s said to go to great lengths to appear taller, even being caught using a footstool while delivering a speech alongside Gordon Brown and Barack Obama during the June D-Day commemorations.

There is no denying that, from his perfectly knotted tie to his cuffed sleeves, that the suits chosen by (or for him) are top notch and pricey to boot.  Mr Sarkozy’s styling offence comes in the form of a continuous stream of ill-fitting suit jackets. They are far too long, which renders his already short legs to look even dinkier.  A one-button shorter jacket would work wonders.

Having said all this, he must be doing something right. He did managing to woo stunning former model Carla Bruni, after all.
