A new Twitter app set for release in March will allow its users to keep on Tweeting even after they’re dead.
One of the biggest fears people have about death is what will happen to their social media pages once they’re gone? Okay, so it’s not really one of the biggest fears people have about death, but if you believed the guys who made the ‘LivesOn’ app, it most certainly is…
‘It divides people on a gut level, before you even get to the philosophical and ethical arguments,’ Dave Bedwood, a creative partner at Lean Mean Fighting Machine – the guys behind the LivesOn app – told the Guardian.
But what exactly does the LivesOn app do? Well, the creators say, ‘when your heart stops beating, you’ll keep tweeting’. The app analyses users accounts for the type of thing they post while they’re (still) alive and then posts similar messages after they’ve passed on.
‘It offends some, and delights others. Imagine if people started to see it as a legitimate but small way to live on,’ Bedwood continued.
‘Cryogenics costs a fortune; this is free and I’d bet it will work better than a frozen head.’
Well, there’s not arguing with that logic, in fairness.
