On a night they lost 4-0 and said farewell to Michael O’Neill, Shamrock Rovers fans should have been a glum bunch, but they made light of their troubles with some cheerful taunting of Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.
‘Arry’s second string side enjoyed a comfortable victory over the Hoops at Tallaght Stadium, but the larger than life manager wasn’t spared the wrath of the Rovers faithful, who mercilessly teased him about his much publicised troubles with his bees and honey.
Chants of ‘You should be in jail/you should be in jail/Harry Redknapp/you should be in jail’ rang around Tallaght Stadium on a night when Rovers supporters had precious little else to cheer about.
‘Arry, of course, is due to face trial next month over allegations that he evaded tax on nearly £200,000 of his rather hefty salary, quite a wad of wonga indeed, between 2002 and 2007.
He could potentially face jail as a result but we all know that’s not going to happen, this is the next England manager in waiting after all. Besides, Harry will find a way out of it, he’s a geezer, a wheeler dealer.
Just don’t say it to his face though, as the poor chap in the video below found out to his cost.
