There has been a lot of talk about a certain stud who has come to Dublin recently and he already has the ladies swooning over him. But who exactly is he?
So who is this ‘big stud’ then?
Well, it’s more like, ‘who is this giant stud’. The new lad strutting his stuff around town is Upali, Dublin Zoo’s newest arrival. He’s the zoo’s first adult bull elephant in 100 years, according to Breakingnews.ie, so he’s a bit of a big massive deal.
Wait, what? I thought there was some stud in town?
Upali is a stud – quite literally. He stands at three metres tall and he weighs more than 6 tonne. So there’s no messing around with this lad.
The 17-year-old Asian bull elephant is now the largest animal at the zoo and according to the zookeepers, Upali has already caught the attention of the three female elephants who already reside there. Yes, that’s right… three.
Really? So where did he come from? Africa?
Hardly. As we already said, he’s an Asian elephant – the kind with the smaller ears – and he has actually arrived in from as far away as Chester Zoo, in the UK. Upali was actually born in Zurich zoo back in 1994, so he’s more Swiss than he is Asian.
At the age of three, Upali made the move to Chester zoo, which we assume was in order to help ‘repopulate’.
He already has four offspring, two girls and two boys, and now Dublin Zoo hopes that Upali and the three girls will mate, hopefully doubling the size of the Dublin herd here over the next few years. So, as you can see, he’s a proper stud.
Three women? The lucky bast… So what have people been saying about him?
Well, speaking at the opening of the brand new bull elephant house (also known as Upali’s new bachelor pad) Junior minister Brian Hayes said,” I congratulate Dublin Zoo on becoming one of both my own personal and indeed the nation’s favourite visitor attractions.
“I believe Upali turned up from Chester the other day and he’s very welcome.
“I believe there are three female elephants waiting for him. Lucky old Upali, that’s what I say.”
That’s what we’re all saying mate.
