Can you believe that over 42,000 Irish men and women are using an online dating site that specialises in extra-martial affairs?
The internet can be a dodgy place to have an extra-marital affair, what with all the pitfalls involved. However, that’s not stopping 42,000 of you from having it off on the sly.
According to Irish Central, there are over 630,000 members of the UK dating site IllicitEncounters.com, of which over 40,000 reside in Ireland.
Now you might think that it’s a tad immoral to set up a dating site for people who are married, but that’s not the view of the site’s owner, Rosie Freeman-Jones.
She said, ‘I don’t think there is a great moral problem, we don’t necessarily think an affair is a bad thing. I’ve been doing this job for four years and I sleep very well at night. I am comfortable with it.
‘In a way it provides a bit of perspective. Once they have gone elsewhere they might think, no this is not what I want and that is a win, win for us.’
If you’re thinking of going to the website for a bit of a peruse, then be warned: According to Irish Central, men looking for a bit of fun on the side are expected to pay around €100 a month for membership.
It’s a bit steep, but obviously not steep enough to deter over 40,000 Irish members.
