Remember we brought you the story that some Swedish lady was setting up a School of Sex in Austria. Well she was lying.
The story broke a few weeks back that Ylva-Maria Thompson was to set up the world’s first school of sex in Austria, teaching the students a hands on education in giving and receiving love at the Austrian International School of Sex (AISOS).
However, on Monday, Thompson explained that the AISOS publicity campaign was hatched by an Austrian advocacy group known as The Bird Base in order to raise awareness about the country’s low birth rate.
“I was asked by their press person to play the part. If anyone was the right person, it was me. I felt made for the role,” she told reporters.
“I think many in the media figured ‘if a story sounds too good to be true, don’t check it too carefully’. They wanted the story regardless,” she said. And she wasn’t far off. The story gained ground all over the world from Mexico to Australia and back to little old Ireland.
According to Swedish news site The Local, AISOS won’t end up fulfilling its original billing as a full-blown sex school. Instead, the institution will continue to exist as a trade group for sex coaches, according to Thompson, who plans to remain an active member of the institution.
Hopefully it’s not too late to return those flights to Austria – and get the missus back.
