The new Nissan Leaf has arrived in Ireland for its European debut at Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock.

The Leaf is one of the first all-electric cars made available from a mainstream brand, others being the Renault Fluence EV and the Mitsubishi iMiev. This new electric vehicle is a zero-emission five-seater C-segment hatchback.

Nissan is already taking orders for the Leaf but the electric car will not be available in Ireland until February 2011 with availability in the UK starting in March 2011.

Inside the Nissan Leaf

Nissan vice president, Pierre Loing, spoke of the zero emission strategy implemented by the company: “Make no mistake, Nissan LEAF is evidence of Nissan’s leadership – with Alliance partner Renault – of the zero emission market and of the company’s serious intent to transform the future of personal mobility all over the world.”
