This weekend was all about the Wing Bowl… chicken Wing Bowl

You might be getting geared up to watch the Patriots take on the Giants, but the Wing Bowl was America’s most important sporting event held on Friday.

You might have to be built like a train and move like one too to become the next American football superstar, but Takeru Kobayashi from Japan proved on Friday that you don’t have to be a big guy to be the Wing Bowl champion.

Weighing in at 127 pounds (57 kg) Kobayashi was around 250 pounds (113 kg) lighter than the heaviest competitor. Despite this, the ‘sushi samurai’ managed to pound down 337 chicken wings.

If we are to assume that they were eating normal two-winged chickens and not some freakish genetically enhanced alternative, a total of 168.5 birds would have been killed to crown Kobayashi the champ.

The 337 wings were chowed down within the 30-minute time limit at the Wells Fargo Centre in Philadelphia.

So what does the chicken wing champion of the world get? A finger licking good $20,000. Not bad for 30 minutes work.

Here’s a taster of the event:
