Tonight’s Two-Hour Chill includes the chilled out movie that is Cool Runnings, Manchester City take on Wigan and it’s your chance to catch the highlights from this year’s Golden Globes with Ricky Gervais.
Main Event: The 2012 Golden Globes (Highlights), RTÉ Two, 9pm
Sadly, you may have missed the live show last night, but we’ve brought you one better: highlights of last night’s ceremony, hosted by Ricky Gervais at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, California. Gervais raised eyebrows with his no-holds-barred style of presenting at the 2011 event and as a result the producers of the show are putting a seven second delay on “The Office” funny man . Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Meryl Streep are among this year’s nominees.
Sporting Pick: Manchester City v Wigan, Sky Sports 1, 7pm
Wigan Athletic v Manchester City kick-off is at 8.00pm. The Premier League encounter will be played at the DW Stadium, as two sides from opposite ends of the table face each other – so we can pretty much guess who’s going to win. A Sergio Aguero hat-trick was enough for the Citizens to claim all three points earlier in the season at the Etihad Stadium, but they do not have a strong record at the ground, with their 2-0 triumph in the previous campaign their only win here in seven attempts. So don’t put your house on them, but you’re probably safe enough to bet everything else.
Movie Pick: Cool Runnings, Sky Movies Comedy, 8pm
A sprinter fails to qualify for the Jamaican Olympic squad, but he refuses to give up his dream. Learning that a former US bobsleigh coach (aka. the fat guy from Uncle Buck) is living nearby, he seizes the chance to shine in an entirely different sport, and cajoles three of his mate to join him in training for the 1988 Winter Olympics in the far less tropical environment of Canada. It’s a proper brotherhood movie so don’t be ashamed if a little tear rolls off the cheek. It happens the best of us… *sniff*. John Candy, Leon, Doug E Doug (seriously?) and Malik Yoba star.
