Sol Campbell is set to sign for Newcastle on a free transfer, and is currently undergoing a medical according to reports.
Campbell’s short term contract with Arsenal ran out at the end of last season, and the former England international attracted interest from clubs including Sunderland, Celtic and St. Pauli.
He has finally settled on Newcastle, however, after rejecting a new one-year offer from Arsenal.
He will be Chris Hughton’s third summer signing, after the influx of James Perch and Dan Gosling.
Campbell, who has 73 caps for England, has made 492 Premier League appearances for Tottenham, Arsenal, and Portsmouth.
He has never demanded a transfer fee.
