The top seeds in the men’s and women’s singles are all in action on a crucial day of the Wimbledon Championships.
Six-time champion Roger Federer is scheduled to get the ball rolling at 12 noon against Austrian 16th seed Julian Melzer.
Rafael Nadal, who like Federer struggled for top form during the first week, takes on Paul-Henri Mathieu in the third match due on Court 1, following the contest between third seed Novak Djokovic and former champion Lleyton Hewitt.
Much of the attention will be on fourth seed and home favourite Andy Murray, who meets big-serving American 18th seed Sam Querrey, while last year’s unlucky runner-up Andy Roddick takes on Yen-Hsun Lu of Taipei.
In the women’s singles, top seed and defending champion Serena Williams may get her first real test against another former winner of the tournament, Maria Sharapova, while Venus Williams should have things her own way against the unseeded Jarmila Groth of Slovakia and JOE favourite Caroline Wozniaki of Denmark (pictured) takes on Petra Kvitova.
