Transfer Talk: Valbuena on the verge of Premier League move, United to bid for di Maria

France's top performer at the World Cup is a wanted man in London.

Well, this is new…

Forget Paul Pogba, Mathieu Valbuena was France’s outstanding player at this summer’s World Cup and could be set for a move to the Premier League.

Queens Park Rangers are set to bid £7m for the diminutive Marseille playmaker and the 29-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Valbuena would cost around £70,000 a week in wages and is also insisting a release clause should the club get relegated but, given the short term thinking of most promoted clubs, expect Harry Redknapp and co. to cross the bridge if they come to it.

Lukaku close to Everton deal

Everton v Arsenal - Premier League

No offence to Everton fans, but we still find it hard to believe that Jose Mourinho is willing to flog one of the best young strikers in Europe while bringing back 74-year-old Didier Drogba.

However, the Chelsea boss has clearly never rated Romelu Lukaku and it seems the Belgian will indeed return to Goodison Park on a permanent deal.

The Daily Express are reporting that Roberto Martinez will splash out £18m in the coming days to bring Lukaku back to Merseyside. A cracking deal for Everton, despite a poor World Cup from the 21-year-old.

Manchester United back in di Maria race

Argentina v Switzerland: Round of 16 - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

We’d love to see Angel di Maria in the Premier League, especially as the 26-year-old is coming into his peak years, and Manchester United are heading the list of potential suitors for the Argentine.

Di Maria’s proposed move to Paris Saint Germain has hit a snag over the £45m transfer fee – with PSG looking to cut corners in light of Financial Fair Play – and The Sun report that Louis van Gaal is keeping a very close eye on matters indeed.

And finally….

Southampton don’t want to lose Morgan Schneiderlin on the cheap after seeing half their first team decamp to Liverpool, and have told both Spurs and Arsenal that they’ll need to part with £27m for the French midfielder.
