Today’s Tweet of the Day includes some very helpful advice to anyone thinking of buying a video game console this Christmas.
Back in the day – before the days of Xbox and PlayStation – the biggest fear on Christmas morning was, “does it need batteries?” If you didn’t pre-install the dammed AA’s then you’d have to wait until long after Christmas to buy a set, or God forbid you’d have to steal them out of the remote control.
However, things have gotten a lot more technical as of late.
These days, batteries aren’t going to slow you down on Christmas morning, but loading up new software to your brand new console could take you hours – literally. So getting everything sorted beforehand is a must, as Gary Fenn @BigSpud recently reminded us.

They’re some seriously helpful words to take on this Christmas, especially if you’ve gotten a new Wii U for your nearest and dearest, but it applies to any type of electrical device that needs new software downloaded.
