Ulster flanker and Irish international Stephen Ferris has been ruled out for at least six to eight weeks after suffering a fractured cheekbone in training.
An x-ray revealed the injury earlier today and Ferris will require surgery to repair the damage.
As a result he will miss Ulster’s final Magners League game with Connacht on Friday night and he may also miss Ireland’s tour of the southern hemisphere, where they will play New Zealand and Australia in friendly clashes on June 12th and 26th respectively.
