Ever thought about channelling your inner adrenaline seeker and doing a bungee jump? This video might make you think again.
An Australian tourist visiting the Zambezi River on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe was lucky to escape with her life on New Year’s Eve after she miraculously survived a botched bungee jump over crocodile-infested waters.
The bungee cord attached to 22-year old Erin Langworthy snapped while she hovered over the water below, but that was the least of her troubles.
Having suffered the fall in the first place, Erin then had to negotiate her way through rapids in an area that is renowned for harbouring crocodiles, while at the same time repeatedly removing the bungee cord from rocks to which the cord had become attached.
Somehow, she lived to tell the tale and avoided suffering any major injuries, although she did pick up some quite nasty-looking bumps and bruises along the way.
Recalling the incident to Australia’s Channel 9 news, Erin said:
“I landed with my legs tied and then had to swim to the Zimbabwe side (of the river) through the rapids.
“It was quite scary because a couple of times the rope actually got caught on some rocks or debris.
“I actually had to swim down and yank the bungee cord out of whatever it was caught on to make it to the surface.”
While the vast majority of bungee jumps out there remain perfectly safe, potential adrenaline-seekers may think again after having a look at the footage above.
Erin should count herself lucky, however, as at least she avoided the fate of the poor fellow in the video below (Relax, it’s just a Fosters ad).
