Video: Aldi’s Irish speaking viral is pretty damn cringy

The supermarket chain Aldi have launched a video ahead of Paddy’s Day teaching us a cúpla focal as Gaeilge, but we’re not too sure what to make of it.

We’re fans of all viral videos, even if they’re made under false pretences. Take the Pepsi advert featuring NASCAR champ Jeff Gorgon that we featured yesterday. We had suspicions that the video was actually fake, and the lads over at Jalopnik confirmed that it was earlier today. But hey, it was entertaining and we love it.

This ad from Aldi, however, is just plain weird. Is it a p*ss take?

Well, obviously it’s a p*ss take, but it just looks too static and awkward to be a funny p*ss take. Anne does fine, we’ve no gripes with her (mainly because she’s pretty hot), but what’s up with the Barry lad?

He’s supposed to be acting as a helpful Aldi employee, but he comes across like an absolute weirdo. Their story of haunted cheese won’t give us nightmares, but ‘Barry’s’ creepy stare most definitely will.
