In what is some fall from the career highs of Point Break and Under Siege, actor Gary Busey has been reduced to doing advertisements for local car dealers in the US.
While his co-stars in those movies, Keanu Reeves and Steven Seagal, are hardly renowned for their acting chops, they sure have a lot more personality than the rat clad in gangsta-rap paraphernalia and the waving, gopher-like creature Busey shares the screen with in the video above.
The undoubted centre of attention in the ad, however, is Busey. He was always known for playing characters that weren’t always the full shilling and whether or not he was playing up to that caricature or is just actually like that in real life (a more likely possibility), he reaches a whole new level of barmy while promoting a range of KIA cars.
Telling viewers to follow his ‘New Year Buseyism’ and ‘Keep it Awesome’ (K-I-A, get it?) Busey works himself into a frenzy before letting out a tremendously high-pitched and frankly, frightening shriek which would surely put off any sane motorist from buying a car at Century III Kia in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.
Bad and all as the ad is, it’s bound to be a damn sight better than Busey’s upcoming role in Piranha 3D: The sequel, which is due to stink out cinemas worldwide later this year.
