Video: Farmers bring Dublin city centre to a standstill

If you’re in the capital and you’ve been stuck behind a John Deere for the past hour wondering what in the name of God is going on, then wonder no more…

Traffic should hopefully return to normality shortly as the Irish Farmers’ Association ‘Day of Action’ makes its way around the city. The lads (and lasses) started their march from the arse side of Merrion Sq. and made their way around by JOE Towers, so naturally, we took some footage.

The march should make its way through Ely Place, Hume Street, St Stephen’s Green East, St Stephen’s Green North, Dawson Street, Nassau Street and then back out onto Kildare Street.

So what exactly are the farmers protesting? Well, they have a beef with planned reforms to the Common Agricultural Policy and also with the upcoming budget. The farmers also have grievances with the profit margin that some supermarkets make off their produce and they let like letting everyone know.

Most are up in arms over the planned changes, but judging by the happy heads on a few (younger) people in the video above, it’s also an excuse for a day off work/school.

“Cream for the supermarkets,
Bullshit for the farmers”
