A man over in the US attempted to siphon fuel from cars with a homemade device, but he wound up with a smashed truck and second degree burns.
Herbert C. Ridge, 37, from Arizona, was caught using an electric homemade petrol siphon to steal fuel from other motorists. However, Ridge found out the hard way that homemade electronics and flammable liquids seldom mix.
A spark came from the device mid-siphon and it caused Ridge’s petrol soaked clothes to catch fire. In the video below Ridge can be seen trying to stop, drop and roll in the middle of the street before clambering into his pick-up truck.
Unfortunately for Ridge, the fire hadn’t been fully extinguished, and the flames quickly spread to the interior of the pick-up. Ridge then bailed out of the truck and left it to drive unmanned into a garage door a few meters away where it meet a fiery end.
The whole thing was caught on a neighbour’s security camera and Ridge was arrested on suspicion of theft, DUI, felony criminal damage and possession of dangerous drugs.
