Here we have a video that may clear up any questions anyone has regarding pit crews and their funny looking helmets. Ralf Schumacher, younger brother of racing veteran Michael, was in the pits during practice at Zandvoort on Friday when this disaster happened.
Upon leaving the pits, Ralf’s rear wing caught on an airline, which whipped out and struck several pit crew members planting them firmly on the ground and nearly decapitating one of them. According to reports, four people were hospitalised after the accident but thankfully none of them suffered from any serious injuries.
It’s definitely one scary look at how things can go wrong in motorsports, even if you’re not behind a steering wheel.
