Around 20 passengers had taken their seats on a Belgian flight bound for Zurich, Switzerland on Monday night, but little did they know a massive diamond heist was going on in the cargo-hold below…
It’s estimated that there was around $50 million (€37m) in rough and cut diamonds on board the flight and it only took eight masked men three minutes to take the loot.
The video above explains how they managed to break into an airport and steal the diamonds, before making a completely clean getaway. Surprisingly, no gunshots were fired, and as we said, the whole heist only took three minutes.
“This was a very precise, almost military-organised and well-executed robbery,” Ine Van Wymersch, of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Brussels, said.
It’s a pretty amazing story, so we give it two years before someone makes a movie out of it.
