The US has been experiencing some pretty serious heat waves as of late, so much so that highways are buckling and creating some pretty scary jumps, as this SUV driver found out.
Here’s footage of Highway 29 in in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (north of North America), where it tends to be a tad cold… pretty much all of the time. It just goes to show how bad these heat waves really are seeing as a section of this Wisconsin highway buckled under the immense pressures.
Now, in fairness to authorities the jump did have large orange warning signs marked ‘warning, bump’ placed beside it and most cars did slow down according to Jalopnik. However, the signs failed to slow down the SUV driver who hit the bump at what we suspect was full highway speeds (65mph in Wisconsin).
The car gets airborne for a good two or three seconds before it eventually lands hard on the other side of the jump. Between the shock of the incident, and the subsequent lack of shocks on the SUV, it spills over to the other side of the highway narrowly missing oncoming traffic before coming to rest in a nearby field.
We’re not too sure how the driver is doing right now, but one thing is for sure, she/he will be slowing down for big orange signs in the future.
