Thinking of buying a new car? Worried about how much insurance and tax is going to cost? Well don’t, because VW has you covered – literally.

VW Ireland is kindly relieving some of the financial burden of buying a new car this April as they’re offering free insurance and free tax for a whole year, once you buy a new VW of course.

“Many Irish households were hit with another charge late last month with the introduction of the Household Charge, so we decided that we would ease the financial burden on qualifying customers buying one of our new cars by paying the first year’s insurance and road tax on all new Volkswagens bought in April,” said John Donegan, Head of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen Ireland.

You’re probably thinking that it sounds like a great idea, but it’s probably only available on the cars you weren’t looking at, right? Wrong. The deal is available on any make and any model and customers will avail of twelve months insurance, underwritten by Allianz plc. So at least you know it’s someone you can trust and not just some doggy insurer.

Like everything else there are some simple terms and conditions to adhere to, but at least you won’t feel so bad about paying that dammed Household Charge (or the unpaid fines).
