Remember VW’s Superbowl teaser trailer that we brought you not too long ago? Well, here’s the real deal.
We loved the VW advert from last year’s Superbowl, the one with the mini Vader, and their teaser of the dogs barking the Imperial March theme tune wasn’t half bad too. So what do we make of this year’s Superbowl commercial? Well, we’re just a tad disappointed.
The teaser trailer did its job by hanging us on a thread, leaving us waiting to see what was going to be in store. Would Darth Vader be walking his dog when the new VW drove by? Or would there be a canine version of the Death Star? The possibilities were endless.
However, the new ad is a little bit of an anti-climax. Granted, it’s not the worst ad we’ve ever seen and the Star Wars recreation is pretty damn good. But it just feels like there’s something missing. The Star Wars reference at the end fits in well with the other themed ads that they’ve done, but it kind of looks as though they just pasted two ads together. One with a dog and one at the Death Star’s bar.
