If you’re looking for a website that will help to pass the time, without getting you caught up in boring news then head on over to firstpersontetris.com.

Now, we know what you’re thinking: ‘Why is that image sideways?’ Well, it’s not… trust us.

Just when you thought the classic 1984 puzzle Tetris couldn’t get any better it has been given a whole new lease of life thanks to firstpersontetris.com. In this remake, the simple act of rotating a block is made surprisingly tricky. That’s because you don’t just move the block in question; instead you move the whole screen. Think of it as Tetris, but in zero gravity.

Russian puzzler Alexey Pajitnov first introduced Tetris to the gaming world back in 1984 and it has since seen more remakes and sequels then the James Bond and Rambo franchises put together. However, we think it’s safe to say that this is one of the best versions available.

Even though this online game is so good, it’s still completely free of charge. All you need to play it is a web browser… and a computer too. The cheap simplistic graphics tie in nicely with the concept of the game and we even see an old school NES making an appearance in the foreground.

There are even a few cool features that you can play around with once you start up a game. There are three generic types of music to choose from and you can even play the game in the extremely challenging ‘night mode’.

Night mode is a lot more challenging than it looks

But what’s this ‘night mode’ lark? Well basically, when you turn on night mode everything turns black and you can’t really see what blocks go where. Take our word for it when we say it’s pretty damn tough.

As we said, the site is completely free and there are no newsletters to sign up to or any hidden catches.

Head over to firstpersontetris.com to waste some time online.
