Are we in for a white Christmas? We’re certainly in for some cold weather over the coming weeks but will there be snow in time for the 25th?
For a good 20 years Irish people dreamed of a white Christmas, until of course we finally got one and realised how much pain in the arse it was. You may remember the winters of 2009 and 2010 – how could you forget – well, luckily it doesn’t look like we’re in for that type of a winter lashing this year.
According to Met Éireann, we better get used to cold mornings like the one we experienced this morning as temperatures are expected to plummet to as low as -3C over night, which means ice and heavy fog is on the cards.
As for snow, we could be hit by a flurry of snowflakes this week, but there have been no reports of any full on snowfalls heading our way just yet. If it’s going to snow it will do so on Thursday, but it could very well be isolated to hilly and mountainous areas.
However, a sub-zero Siberian cold front has been predicted to reach Ireland this coming Wednesday, and if it does then we could be in for another white Christmas – whether you like it or not. That being said, the forecasters just aren’t sure if it will be a white on this Christmas, so we’ll just have to wait to find out.
