Will this Irish creation spell the death of the QWERTY keyboard?

Forget your QWERTY keyboard, the future of typing could lie in the keys of the Irish made BeeRaider.

Forget your QWERTY keyboard, the future of typing could very well lie in the keys of the Irish made BeeRaider.

It might look a bit strange, but this radically-designed radial keyboard layout (pictured above) could very well be the future of typing if the Irish technology company BeeRaider gets their product off the ground. The keyboard has been designed with modern-day usage in mind and apparently it will make typing on smaller devices, such as your smart phone or tablet, much easier.

The company states that the design is both logical and ergonomic for efficient data entry. So what’s the story with the shape? Well, the company’s name might give you a clue. Apparently, the shape of the keyboard relates to a bee as it has a brain, an upper body, a lower body, as well as, upper and lower wings.

According to SiliconRepublic.com the bee-shaped layout allows for either one-handed or two-handed typing, which would certainly make life a bit easier when you’re trying to tweet on the bus.

The company hopes to get enough investment so they can have a physical product on the market by 2013. You can download the app version of the BeeRaider over on the Android Marketplace, however, there’s no word of an iPhone version just yet.
