Will.I.Am puts body kit on Northern Irish car and calls it his own creation

We’ve seen Will.I.Am change career directions from a recording artist to an ‘entrepreneur’ and now he claims that he’s launching a new car company. Sadly the car isn’t that original.

The car in the photo above is the first product of his venture I.Am.Auto and he claims that it’s made from mostly Chrysler parts. It may look cool to some, especially if you were around in the eighties or more specifically if you watched Back to the Future as a kid.

Why? Because it looks just like a DeLorean with a crappy looking body kit and 24” rims according to Jalopnik. So why is Will.I.Am saying this car is his creation? God only knows.

If you took this beast up to 88mph… parts would start to fall off.

The Black Eyed Peas star went on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ on Wednesday to explain his dream of becoming the next Henry Ford.

“I’m a big technology freak and geek and I invested my money in building my own vehicle because I want to bring jobs to the ghetto that I come from, so why not invest?

“Like I invested in making a demo to start the Black Eyed Peas, we did that, now I want to invest to have a car company in the neighbourhood that I come from.”

He then went on to tell Jay what the car is made from. However, it doesn’t really make sense.

“I went to Chrysler and got a whole bunch of parts to where it’s still certified as a legal vehicle on the streets. So I don’t really mess with the airbag configurations or things like that. Kept the chassis and we create the shell, which is the body and the interior and the audio interface… it’s sick, it’s really fresh.”

That’s all well and good if only one eagle-eyed fan of the DMC didn’t spot a similar looking car in the background of an episode of the TV show West Coast Customs (like Pimp My Ride, but without Xzibit).

It’s probably best if Will.I.Am sticks to what he knows best from now on. If only he knew what that was.
