Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has made his first signing of the summer with the acquisition of Belgium defender Jelle van Damme.
Van Damme, who joins Wolves from Anderlecht on a three-year deal, is returning for a second spell in England having spent one fruitless season at Southampton in 2004/05.
The 26-year-old former Ajax man can play at either centre half or left back.
Should McCarthy see him primarily as an option for left full, van Damme will compete with one of Wolves’ Irish contingent, Stephen Ward, who made the position his own during the club’s first season back in the Premier League last term.
