During the week we brought you the news that a woman in Dublin donated a pair of curtains with a large amount of cash secretly sown into them. Well, she’s been back to the charity shop in question.

We were quite interested in this story during the week as it’s not often that someone donates a ‘large sum of cash’ to a charity shop without even knowing it.

In case you haven’t heard what went down, a lady donated a pair of curtains to the Barnardos charity shop in Rathmines the Wednesday before last, however, unbeknownst to her there was a large sum of money sown into the lining of the curtains.

After a shop worker noticed the hidden stash of cash, the charity got onto the media appealing for the woman to come back, as they weren’t sure if she meant to donate the cash in such a strange way.

Now, as you can imagine, the shop was inundated with people claiming the cash was theirs – hard times and all that.

However, late last night, the charity confirmed that the woman returned to the shop in Rathmines and claimed the cash, which ran into thousands according to the Irish Independent. Apparently, the staff instantly recognised the woman once she entered the shop, however, she has asked for her identity to be kept a secret.

Barnardos also would not reveal if the woman donated a portion of the windfall to the charity.

We like to think she did.
