The two cars are aiming to cover four continents and more than 15,000 road miles before finishing up at the Sydney Motor Show in late October.

The world tour began in Los Angeles on 20 August, crossed the US to New York and began the Irish leg in Shannon, Co. Clare last weekend.

As well as highlighting the landmark millionth sale, set to happen this month, the worldwide expedition is also marking the launch of the Ford Fiesta in the US.

Next up for the cars is a ferry trip across the Irish Sea to Britain and eventually onto mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel.  From there, the tour will continue across China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and then across the Australian continent to finish up in Sydney.
