Muff is undoubtedly everyone’s favourite Donegal based town, due to its hilariously suggestive name, and now it has decided to cash in with a series of t-shirts and key rings. Would you wear an ‘I love Muff’ t-shirt? Of course you would.
As some local towns and villages feel the harsh economic pinch, the little town of Muff in Donegal is turning the recession on it’s head by flogging ‘I love Muff’ t-shirts, key rings and baseball caps. That’s sure to rake them in a fortune.
Now, you might think that having a hilarious place name like Muff would be a bit of a curse. Take the Austrian town of Fucking for example. The town finally succumb to the pressures of having such a weight to carry so they recently motioned to have the spelling changed – sadly for the rest of us. However, everyone in a little town in Donegal is now jumping on the Muff wagon.
Tara Reddin, chairperson of the Muff Festival, which takes place over the August bank holiday weekend, says visitor numbers have never been greater.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Star, Tara said, “There was talk that some people wanted to change the name but why would we do that?
“I was born and bred in Muff and I never knew the double-meaning of the name until I went away!
“Now we all just laugh at it,” she added.
