Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far – unsurprisingly – but forecasters are saying today is going to be even better.

We hope you brought the sunscreen with you today as it’s going to be an absolute cracker outside. Yesterday saw the mercury rising to a toasty 24C, which made Ireland hotter than Rome and Barcelona – now that’s something we never thought we’d say.

If you’re lucky enough to be basking in the sun today, then prepare yourself for what’s expected to be the hottest day of the year so far. We should see today’s mercury levels rise to 25C, so what out for the national strip down.

A spokeswoman for Met Éireann told the Irish Sun: “Friday will be another sunny and warm day but rising temperatures may spark off a few thundery showers inland. Temperatures should hover all day between the 20°C to 25°C mark.

“The good news is the dry, sunny weather will continue through the weekend and into Monday with temperatures across the country generally reaching 17°C to 22°C.”

Now, all that’s left to do is to go and work on that tan of yours. Just don’t forget the factor 100.
