If there’s one profession that should have a blanket ban on Twitter accounts, its footballers. The latest to completely put their foot in it is Aldershot’s Marvin Morgan.
Morgan has now been suspended, transfer listed and fined two weeks wages after going online to respond to Aldershot supporters that booed the forward when he was substituted during a 2-1 defeat on Monday. Enraged at the response of his own fans, the 27-year-old tweeted:
“Like to thank the fans who booed me off the pitch. Where’s that [support] going to get you! I hope you all die.“
A club statement released yesterday read: “The player accepted that his conduct was totally misguided and inappropriate.” Although the player has since apologised and ‘protected’ his tweets, Morgan has since joined Dagenham & Redbridge on loan during the January transfer window.
