Pic: This Irish fella met a very special cyclist on his trek around the Wild Atlantic Way

On your bike

JOE

A brief encounter.

It’s not every day you meet An Taoiseach and it’s definitely a rare occasion to bump into our Taoiseach out of his trademark suit.

So for Mark Graham it was a very unexpected encounter and for Enda Kenny, it was equally as interesting.

Mark Graham is currently cycling around the Wild Atlantic Way on a wooden bike, a feat not to be sniffed at.

In fact, according to the Irish Independent, it was the first thing our Taoiseach said to Mark when they met at the peak of Coomanaspic this week.

“Are you the fella cycling the Wild Atlantic Way on a wooden bike,” Enda Kenny asked Mark Graham

“I am” Mark Graham told Enda Kenny.

He didn’t need to ask him was he the fella running our country, he already knew the answer to that question…

Mark Graham is on week 7 of his epic trek and bumped into An Taoiseach and his son out for a cycle.

“I’ve been accused of being a bit wooden myself, you know,” An Taoiseach is quoted as saying to Mark as they conversed at the summit of the mountain top.

“On a day like this when you look out to Skellig Michael from the beach at Ballinskelligs,” he mused, “it’s hard to imagine why anyone would go to Jamaica or The Canaries, with all this on our doorstep.”

An eloquent man, our Taoiseach.
