A number of assault rifles have been discovered in Meath.

Gardaí are questioning a man in possession of assault rifles believed to be in connection with the Regency Hotel tragedy in Dublin in February, which resulted in the murder of David Byrne.

According to The Irish Times, the discovery was made in the suspect’s car by the Special Detective Unit in Slane, Meath.

It is strongly believed that the guns were used in the Regency Hotel attack last month.

The findings come after Wednesday morning’s raid by the Criminal Assets Bureau on a number of residential and commercial properties around Dublin.
