Tragic news from Wexford.

Ciara Ryan, a 14-year-old girl from Wexford, has tragically died after collapsing during a GAA football match in Co Wexford.

It’s believed that the young woman died as a result of a suspected brain haemorrhage while playing a match with Kilanerin GAA Club in Gorey yesterday evening.

Miss Ryan became unwell during the game, complaining of a headache, and subsequently fainted on the pitch. RTE have stated that there was a paramedic watching the match from the sideline and they quickly intervened to deliver first aid on the scene.

A local doctor arrived within 10 minutes as the teenager was rushed to the nearby Wexford General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
