Brrrrrrrrrr.
It seems like our first weekend in 2018 is set to be a cold one, with January weather out in full force in Ireland tonight.
Met Éireann has forecast that today’s weather will be dry but frosty…
”Scattered wintry showers this morning will die out and it will become generally dry during the day with good sunny spells developing.
”A cold and blustery day with frost in places at first and highest temperatures only 3 to 6 degrees in fresh northeasterly winds. Winds will ease this evening and frost will set in quickly.”
…with temperatures tonight dropping to as low as -5° in some parts of the country.
”Dry, clear and very cold tonight with lowest air temperatures generally -1 to -5 degrees with a widespread sharp to severe air and ground frost. Some patches of freezing fog also. Perhaps temperatures staying slightly above zero along the east coast due to an onshore northeasterly wind.”
According to Accuweather, Galway later this evening will be very cold, with accompanying winds and gusts making temperatures feel as low as -6°.

Severe frost is expected across the country tonight with icy stretches and freezing fog patches.
However, there is hope if you’re on the east or south of the country tonight – as temperatures are expected to be staying at just above zero along the coats due to onshore winds.
