Venezuela president Hugo Chavez has found an unlikely tool for his socialist revolution – his own Twitter account, which is gaining about 2,000 followers daily and has a follower list currently exceeding 720,000. Chavez has apparently ordered a 200-strong team to respond directly to tweets concerning government services.
Aside from dealing with pleas from his countrymen, the Venezuela leader has also had to deal with stinging criticism, such as his continental enemy Colombian president Alvaro Uribe, who tweeted in his native tongue that Chavez was a ‘coward’ for ‘hurling insults from a distance’:
‘Notifico al Presidente Hugo Chavez para que deje de ser cobarde lanzando insultos a distancia’
