Twitter have revealed the top ten trending topics of the year, as well as the ten most powerful Tweets.

The BP oil spill was the top tending topic of the year, while the film Inception and teenage pop star Justin Bieber were also on the list.

A Tweet by an American news journalist was named as the most powerful.
