It’s going to be chilly for people in Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo this morning….

Monday morning is never an easy thing to face even if you were lying on a beach in the Bahamas but Met Eireann has some bad news for people living out west this morning.

They’ve issued a status yellow snow-ice warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo so be careful.

People in the regions can also later expect heavy thundery showers mainly over higher ground. This warning is in effect until 10.00am.

In some places the conditions can drop zero, -1C with a sharp frost and risk of icy patches.

Today, as a whole, will be cold with icy patches and highest temperatures around five to nine degrees Celsius.

Windy conditions and frost are expected in places this evening but will clear as the night progresses and temperatures rise so as always, take care if you’re out and about.
