Video: Jaysus, the size of the waves crashing over Mayo last night were incredible

We hope to god that you were all indoors…

As much as JOE loves taking a leisurely stroll along the beautiful and scenic seafronts on the West coast of Ireland, there wasn’t enough money in the world to make us leave our homes last night.

As expected the winds were so strong that they could have skinned a donkey whilst parts of the country were wetter than an otters pocket.

JOE reader Conor Ledwith sent us in this brilliant footage he took of some absolutely incredible waves breaking over Roonagh Pier, Mayo.

Conor tells us that he found it incredibly difficult to take some images  with all the sea spray, mist and rain blocking his lens but he soldiered on to get this great footage.

Apparently the photographer sat in his car with the wipers working overtime to clear away the spray and sea foam that was breaking against the pier.

Take a look.
