Aaron Sorkin clearly isn’t a fan of the Kerryman…
If JOE had to cast an actor to play us in our upcoming film biopic that’s being directed by Martin Scorsese with a budget of $700m then we would probably opt for the star of 12 Years a Slave and X-Men: Days of Future Past, Michael Fassbender.
Like us, the actor is clearly exceptionally talented, charismatic and proud of his Irish roots although it seems that the Oscar winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin isn’t as big a fan of the Killarney man as we are.
In a second published email released about the Sony hacking, the Social Network and West Wing screenwriter criticised Fassbender, branding him irrelevant for the part of Apple founder Steve Jobs in the new planned biopic.
Replying to an email from Columbia Pictures chairman Amy Pascal and film producer Scott Rudin, Sorkin said:
“This used to be an event. I don’t know who Michael Fassbender is and the rest of the world isn’t going to care. This is insane.”
Blasphemy we say, get that man a DVD of Hunger or Inglourious Basterds right now.
It’s believed Fassbender was suggested for role after both Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale rejected the role in Danny Boyle’s upcoming film.
According to reports, Sorkin wanted Tom Cruise to play the lead and stated that:
“F*** it. He’s a great actor whose time has come. Yeah, if the movie’s good, he’ll be on the cover of everything and get nominated for everything,” added Sorkin.
The film has since moved from Sony to Universal Pictures.
JOE is a huge fan of Aaron Sorkin’s work but if he hasn’t heard of Michael Fassbender then we know exactly what to get him for Christmas.
