Bad news for the people of Cork today, and it has nothing to do with the General Election.
The people of the Whitegate area in east Cork have been given a boil notice for their water after high turbidity (or cloudiness) in the Dower spring source was found.
Water to be used for drinking, food preparation, making ice and brushing teeth should be boiled in advance.
According to the Cork Evening Echo, the supply serves over 10,000 people in the rebel county and will affect the following areas.
Midleton South East, Ballynacorra, Cloyne, Clashduff/Ballintotis, Rathcoursey/Saleen, Upper Aghada, Whitegate, Ballycotton, Churchstown, Trabolgan and surrounding rural areas.
Irish Water are working with the Cork County Council and the HSE in order to address the issue with a view to lifting the Boil Water Notice as soon as practicable.
