‘We are acutely aware of the pressure many of our customers continue to experience’
Electric Ireland have become the latest energy supplier in the nation to announce plans to cut their prices.
The company have confirmed that they’ll be dropping electricity prices by 8% and gas prices by 7%.
These cuts will take effect from March 1 and will benefit 1.1 million household customers, reports RTE.
The news will likely come as a pleasant surprise to many, especially after this particularly cold winter.
Due to these cuts, it’s believed that the average annual electricity bill will drop by €152.78 while the average gas bill will drop by €111.29 annually.

Pat Fenlon, Executive Director of Electric Ireland, said that he is conscious of the pressure many are facing to pay their bills
He explained: “We are acutely aware of the pressure many of our customers continue to experience due to the impact of international events and the energy crisis over the last two years.
“Following a reduction of 10% in electricity and 12% in gas prices last November, today’s announcement will deliver further reductions for our customers, resulting in a decrease of 17.2% in electricity and 18.2% in gas prices within a four-month period.
“This will mean a saving of circa €692.81 per annum.”
It’s believed that other main suppliers will announce similar cuts over the coming days or weeks.
